Collection of Work
Custom Built. Quality Driven.
John J. Elliott, Jr. started his career in banking in 1971 working for Cobb Federal and Fulton Federal as a savings and loan department manager. During his nine years in banking, he worked his way up from trainee to district vice president. During that time, John worked with many builders and developers, assisting them in getting financing. After working around the construction industry, he realized he wanted to take his career in that direction.
In 1980 he formed Elliott Homes Ltd. His plan was to build small single family homes in Cobb County. Shortly after that, he teamed up with Pete Waldrep to form Elliott-Waldrep Properties. For the next five years, John and Pete built residential homes with lots bought from Traton Homes, Arvida, and Cotton States Properties. The majority of the homes they built were in Cobb County.
In 1985, Elliott-Waldrep Properties decided to try their hand at developing and created Charlton Forge subdivision in West Marietta. The neighborhood was a wonderful success with over 300 homes sold. Their next project was started in 1993 in West Cobb where they developed and built in Hamilton Township. With over 300 homes, Hamilton Township has gone through several phases and is still going strong.
Four years later in 1997, John partnered with Jim Pressley of Transus Trucking to develop a 41 acre tract called Keeler Woods. Keeler Woods Joint Venture was formed with the purpose of developing residential subdivisions. Their first project, Keeler Woods, was overwhelmingly successful. All 41 lots sold in 2.5 years with houses starting in the high $700,000s.
Coming off the tremendous success of Keeler Woods, the Joint Venture started Oak Grove subdivision in 2001. Located in West Cobb, Oak Grove contains 31 lots and homes start in the 850,000s.
In 2002, Keeler Woods Joint Venture acquired a piece of the Anderson property adjacent to Keeler Woods. The 80 acre tract was developed into 66 lots and called Anderson Farm at Keeler Woods. The next year, the Venture developed a smaller piece of the Anderson property into 17 half-acre lots. This parcel which borders Anderson Farm is called The Park at Anderson Farm. The homes range in price from $850,000 and up.
In 2004, John’s son Joseph joined the company. For the next few years, Elliott Homes completed a half dozen speculative and pre-sale custom homes. In 2007, during the recession, the company was able to stay afloat doing small remodeling jobs and additions. This continued up until 2011 when EH was hired to build a custom home in Marietta Country Club. This job was a significant stepping stone to the company, as it brought them out of the recession and began an extremely successful run of custom home builds.
For the last six years, John and Joseph have continued to build beautiful custom homes in and around Cobb County, mostly drawn and designed by Caldwell Cline Architects. Custom home building has become the company focus and strong suit. The Elliott Homes team works to ensure that every customer has a pleasant experience, building and maintaining strong relationships with all of their homeowners. Their persistent attention to detail is what builds a better home.
